Week 13 First week in the Lovell Wyoming area
This was a busy week of traveling for Elder Williams. He was
transferred from Gillette Wyoming to Lovell Wyoming. The way transfers work is
every 6 weeks you may be transferred. Typically, a missionary stays in an area
for more than one transfer but there are times when they only stay for one
transfer. Mason served in his first area for 2 transfers.
Mason was definitely excited about this transfer because it
brings about an opportunity for new growth in himself and in the work that he
is doing. There was a lot of travel this week but there were also spiritual
experiences to be had.
For those who were worried about Mason being the disobedient
Elder you can put those worries to rest. This week he was paired up with some
Elders who were not to hip on rule following and Mason was able to recognize it
and ask to be paired up with someone else for the day.
This is what happened on that day:
"I had such a good day, we were able to help the new
elders and sister who came into the mission today. It was super cool to be able
to help them especially since I haven't been out very long I was able to tell
them some things I wish I would've known sooner! We got paired up with a new
elder and they had us go tracting today and that was a lot of fun taking the
new guy out and showing him how it's done! We had to place a Book of Mormon so
I was trying really hard to be a good example! The first guy we talked to was
sooooo crazy he just wanted to bible bash us the whole time and was saying the
weirdest things and I had no clue what he was talking about. I felt so bad
because this new guy was like oh man what have I got myself into.... I was able at one point to ask the man
"What did Jesus mean when he said Other sheep I have which are not of this
fold?"
For the first time in about 7 minutes he did not speak and
was super confused. I explained that those sheep were the people in the America
and how the Book of Mormon was about them! Well he didn't take the Book but I
was glad I was able to share that with him and showed the new guy it's not bad
to be bold. So after that we keep trying to place it knocking on door after
door and I just felt like we should keep going but after that we knocked on all
the doors on the street so we had to head back to the church... As we are
walking back I hear "Hey how's the mission going?" So we stop and
look and it's just this random guy walking and he wanted to talk to us and we
gave him the Book! It was so cool to see what happens when you try your hardest
that God will put someone in your path."
In his new area the kids attend seminary (scripture study)
as a part of their schooling. Here our high school aged kids attend early
morning seminar before school. Because of the large amount of Latter Day Saints
in his area they have it as a part of their schooling. One neat thing Mason and
his companion will be doing is:
Lovell is basically mini Utah because they even have
seminary as part of school. So every Friday we go into all the seminary classes
and share a quick message with the students and how to help make them better
member missionaries and how to prepare for a mission.
