Week 16 Update

Image
Elder Williams is doing so great! His weekly emails are getting more in depth as well as full of spiritual experience for himself and those whom he has contact with throughout his service as a missionary. I will be honest, as his mother, reading his emails this week my heart was so full of gratitude and joy to see how he is growing from a little boy to a spiritual giant. He is really enjoying teaching others both about the gospel and others who are training to be missionaries one day. This week they got to break out the bikes. The temp hit 67 which was the warmest he has experienced on his mission. He said it actually felt hot because he has gotten used to the cold. He loves the snow! This is an excerpt from his letter to us this week... We were able to teach Joe again today and that went really well he is still planning on being baptized on the 28th! After Joe we had some more lessons that went really good! Then tonight we went on splits with the youth. I went with a kid and it

Week 15 Lovell Wyoming

Image
This has been an eventful week. Snow storm in April that snowed the road in to get back home. A group of missionaries had to stay at the Bishop's home for the night. Elder Williams and another Elder opted to sleep in the camper, was a great idea until the middle of the night the heater went out. Mind you the temperature outside was -2!!! For those of you who remember when I bore my testimony in sacrament about Elder Williams being called to serve in this area and knowing that Heavenly Father knows exactly where he was needed. I mentioned that I could see him teaching big burly mountain men. Read this line from his email today... Our lesson went super well! We were able to put Joe on date to be baptized April 28th! He's a big mountain man, he's so cool! We will be teaching him a lot now since he's gotta be ready for the 28th but I know he can do it!                  This week was zone conference, Elder Williams is serving in the Wyoming West Zone The g

Week 14 First full week in Lovell

Elder Williams reports that he had a great week this week. He reached 100 days on his mission in the field! Only 623 more to go! He is getting to experience the wind in Wyoming. His new area does not snow quite as much as his old however just as he was about to sign off for the day today he sent this snow pic and said they were in another city an hour away and the roads home are now closed so they will have to stay with a member for the night. Such a beautiful view! I love receiving random text from members where Mason is serving. These pics are from a member of him and his new companion. Elder Kearl. Elder Williams is beyond excited about his birthday present! For those who didn't know I solicited ties from friends, church members and family. I individually wrapped each one and sent them to him. So far he has opened 2 ties. His plan is open tie wear it for the day. I am so proud of him that he waited until day one, which was Sunday April 1st. He had the package

Week 13 First week in the Lovell Wyoming area

This was a busy week of traveling for Elder Williams. He was transferred from Gillette Wyoming to Lovell Wyoming. The way transfers work is every 6 weeks you may be transferred. Typically, a missionary stays in an area for more than one transfer but there are times when they only stay for one transfer. Mason served in his first area for 2 transfers. Mason was definitely excited about this transfer because it brings about an opportunity for new growth in himself and in the work that he is doing. There was a lot of travel this week but there were also spiritual experiences to be had. For those who were worried about Mason being the disobedient Elder you can put those worries to rest. This week he was paired up with some Elders who were not to hip on rule following and Mason was able to recognize it and ask to be paired up with someone else for the day. This is what happened on that day: "I had such a good day, we were able to help the new elders and sister who came i

4 Months in today!

Today marks the 4 month mark for Elder Williams mission! I suppose it's time for me to get on this blog thing or it's not gonna happen! The idea is for me to post his pictures and weekly summaries here for any who might want to follow what is happening and then hopefully we will figure out how to print it all in one nice little book for him to keep for his posterity. This picture was taken just as he was about to entire the Missionary Training Center in Provo Utah.
